Elly started her career as a trainee, and was subsequently an associate, in the commercial disputes team of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.  She then joined the London office of Boies Schiller Flexner.  Thereafter she was part of the investment team at Therium Capital Management where she originated and oversaw multiple major third-party funding investments.  Elly read for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Cambridge University.
